For Alana's Bday: Help Women Fight Cancer
Donation protected
My beloved wife, Alana Devich Cyril, died from advanced gastro-esophageal cancer about 2 1/2 ago, at the young age of 42. April 17, 2021 would have been her 45th birthday. For Alana's birthday, we're raising $3,000 to benefit Women's Cancer Resource Center in Berkeley California, and any donation will help make an impact.
Before her life was tragically cut short, Alana was aided and encouraged by a lovely support group of women that also had metastatic cancers at the Women's Cancer Resource Center. Even when in home hospice, Alana was able to attend a few meetings virtually. This year on Alana's birthday, we are going to walk/run a 5K (3.1 miles) and donate to an amazing organization.
Want to join me in making sure all women in the Bay Area have access to this amazing resource? Please give whatever you can to celebrate Alana's birthday and support women with cancer.
While cancer takes a heavy toll on all Americans, research shows that black women are at greater risk than white women of developing or dying from many different types of cancer. Data from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) also show that black women are less likely than white women to be diagnosed with other cancers that can be harder to detect, grow more rapidly and defy treatment. Collectively, Blacks have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial/ethnic group in the U.S. for most cancers.
I am hoping to $3,000 in Alana's name to help ensure other Black women with cancer may receive the same support my wife did, regardless of income. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
