Things we knew about his life.

-He was a devoted husband and provider to his wife Patty Sue for 44 years.

-He served his country in Vietnam serving as a medic and in the infantry and in the airborne division as a paratrooper jumping from helicopters

-He never held back his opinion or thoughts even if he thought it would hurt your feelings.
-He explored every part of the United States for years doing what he loved driving his semi truck.
-He always had a quick comeback up his sleeve.
-He was full of cool stories and experiences, an loved to talk about them.
-He loved his service dog Amber.

Things we learned upon his passing
- He was a tissue donor. We received a call from the hospital, someone will now have sight an many other vital tissues because he shared himself upon his own death
- We found an old Army award, dated in 1967 he had tucked away. Reading it we learned as a young soldier in Vietnam, grandpa had been involved in a 2 tank explosion an saw 1 man still alive and in complete regard for his own life fled to and administered first aid to the soldier, while live rounds flew all around him he remained in this precarious position until more medical assistance arrived. His actions were said to have greatly contributed to the saving of the life of his wounded comrade.
- During the last week of his life, we talked about salvation, ironically at his bed side, he told me back in 1967, during a fire fight in Vietnam, he called out to God.. “when the bullets were flying” Now again, in February 2021 at St Johns hospital, he called out to God again. God answered and took him home.
Grandpa didn’t have much, but if you could put a price on a man with a good heart he was truly rich. We love you Gerald Gordon. A Son, husband, soldier & Grandfather. In your Vietnam photo, your parachute wings are on your hat. Now your new set of wings are on your back. You will be greatly missed by many.

We all know that a death of a loved one is unexpected and expensive if you aren’t prepared. Gerald and Patty lived on a fixed income an this burden falls heavy on Patty in a time of great grief. If you feel led to help with end of life arrangements donations can be made to this link
