Footprints Foundation Empowers South African Girls

Donation protected

Footprints Foundation needs your help to raise $50,000 to empower girls in rural South Africa!

Who We Are
Footprints Foundation, is a South African not-for profit organization with a mandate to empower disadvantaged youth, with a special focus on marginalized girls in our society. The foundation has a national footprint, and implements programs in partnership with the local community and structures.

Our Mission
In South Africa, there are over 3 million girls who have no access to information on puberty education or proper sanitation systems. Our goal is to reach 70,000 girls in South Africa. In all provinces in which we have a presence, we plan to reach to 10,000 girls.

We aim to host a series on career empowerment at rural schools where the beneficiaries have no access to internet.

We also aim to improve sanitary conditions with the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) system by helping with toilet infrastructure at 1 school per province. Universal affordable and sustainable access to WASH is a key public health issue and the lack of proper sanitation systems should not prevent young women from attending school and living a healthy life.

Schools will each get a borehole, a flushing toilet, puberty facilitators trained and stationed at the school, donations of hygiene products such as hand sanitizers, lotions, deodorant, toothpastes, toothbrushes, lotion and balm cream for Albino students.

We will also donate and monitor government distribution of sanitary towels, and produce a report to why the lack of puberty education limits girls’ growth and overall educational experiences.

Lastly, we plan to establish a uniform donation wing for students without parents, or who or are from poor households. This wing will provide job opportunities for unemployed youth. We plan to produce the third version of Dear African Girl Journal, and if we are successful with the funding, we plan to purchase a printing machine, which will allow us to print and distribute copies to students. The foundation plans to purchase a vehicle for distribution (KOMBI) which will help reduce car hire costs. We also want to purchase an old building and use as an office facility, storage etc.

Funds Raised Will Cover the Cost of:

$17,350 - Purchase of Sanitary Towels
$5600 - Construction of a toilet and incorporate the WASH Model (Basins, Sanitary Bins, Water)
$2100 - Borehole
$21,000 - Towards Always Keeping Girls in School implementation in Limpopo Province, targeting rural and schools in neighboring farms.
$3800 - Project Management

How Your Donation Will Make a Difference:
With your help, we can ensure that South African girls have the proper education and healthy quality of life to move forward and do amazing things!

Thanks so much for your support in this endeavor, and please make sure to spread the word by sharing!
