Hi All, Chris and I have donated 20 tickets to a Stanford Football home game (Stanford vs. Arizona on 10/26) to the 6th grade students at the Holy Family School of the St. Francis Center. As parents of 2 Stanford Football alumni and former tutors at the St. Francis Center, both organizations hold a special place in our hearts.
A wonderful friend of ours (Kathleen Hamilton) teaches there and will be chaperoning the kids on the game day outing (with a few other adults)! The children are from very low-income immigrant families and receive a quality education with the core components of reading, spelling, math, science, geography, social studies, and technology as well as enrichment opportunities in faith, music, dance and art. While attending high school is a challenging enough goal for them, an awareness of college and its opportunities remains relatively non-existent. Kathleen wants to expose the students to the college environment, and let them see that it can be a fun and exciting time in life, something they should aspire to.
Not one of these students has ever experienced the excitement of attending a college football game and we would all like to make this a special night for them. We are trying to raise up to $2,000 so Kathleen and the other chaperones can treat the kids to some concession snacks and possibly a game souvenir, and have enough leftover to put towards another class event in the future. We would greatly appreciate any help you can give - any amount will help! Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
