"Foolhardy Love" is a dram-rom-com that explores the emotional struggle of a young married couple facing the harsh reality of balancing dreams, hopes and the decision to start a family while navigating their evolving relationship just before one leaves for a long-term gig.
I'm Richard Eick - actor, writer, & filmmaker! Over the past 24 years, I've worked hard to build my career as an actor and creative. Several times in my adult life, my only choice was to take a gig out of state and be away from the love of my life, Nicole. After we got married in 2021, I had to leave for work again, but this time it hit me harder...we had just gotten married, and here I was leaving to keep my dream alive. I'll never forget the emotional experience I had sitting on the plane, leaving my wife...in tears...I began to write this piece.
As a filmmaker, I would always get so excited about "finishing" scripts that I would jump into production immediately. This time, I took my sweet-ass time to develop this into the best piece of Artwork that I've ever made. And that is my goal...to make this film an authentic representation of my creative storytelling AND the best piece I've ever made.
So over a year later, I've prepped, and moved through production! The film is in the can as they say (it's actually on a hard drive) and now I need all of your help to successfully move into post-production.

Why make this movie?
I will use this film to promote my work as an auteur. Each film I create is a preservation of my current experiences and imagination, but also a stepping stone to the next phase of my creative output. I need to make this movie because it is a therapeutic expression of my experiences and observations. It is the realization of my imagination using the skills I've built over my entire life.

How can you watch the film?
Once the film is completed a private copy will be shared with the cast, crew and anyone who has helped support the project. From here, the film will be submitted to a range of film festivals (Hollyshorts, Flickerfest, Slamdance, etc) and will later have a permanent home online after completing its festival run.
