Pranit's Food Truck Project

Hello. I'm Pranit Trivedi, from Mumbai, India. I was brought up in a loving family and was privileged enough to go to the United States for my graduation studies in Electrical Engineering at New York University. Initially, I dreamed of working in my field of study at great companies, gaining experience, and eventually starting my own enterprise, living a thrilling life of travel and comfort.
However, in the last few years, my aspirations in life have shifted. I have witnessed human suffering and need, both, in India and the United States. I feel a nagging, moral and ethical responsibility to provide an opportunity to those who need it. My privileged status in life can either be used selfishly, or selflessly. I choose the latter.
While in New York City, I was inspired by the many Food Truck vendors who provide unique and tasty experiences for the on-the-go customer. The industry seemed exciting and fairly easy to do. Being a food lover myself, and someone who is often in transit, the idea intrigued me and I began to think of how I could pursue this, but with a twist. How could I take this idea back home, and actually provide a service beyond just satisfying a customer's food craving?

The idea of a 'food truck of the needy' developed in my heart. What if I were able to create a business model of food trucks where I employed the poor, the cripple, orphans, acid attack victims, housewives, victims of human trafficking, and the transgender? What if I empowered them with an opportunity to live a life of dignity, value, and love? These are people, just like you and me, who were born into/found themselves in circumstances of humiliation and destitution. Yet, I believe they have value and need to know they are worth more than what society has labeled them to be.
My vision is to start with one food truck, which would be handicap-accessible. I would provide adequate training and benefits to these employees as well as sanitary conditions for them to work comfortably. In time, my hope is to expand this to a fleet of various food trucks, throughout the city and even country.
I am asking for your support in this endeavor. There is a lot of need in India. Mumbai is a city over 26 million people—many are living in extreme poverty with little hope. This is a way to create employment opportunity, while boosting human value and dignity.
Please consider giving and sharing this dream with those you know. Help me to create hope and love for many in need.
