The Foodshed Alliance is launching an emergency fundraiser to ensure farmers can continue growing, families can access fresh food, and our shared natural resources remain protected—despite delayed federal grant disbursements.
We've served New Jersey communities through USDA-supported programs that strengthen food security, farmland access, and environmental stewardship. While grants have never been our only funding source, more than 50% of our budget relies on them—and now, essential funds are being withheld.
What's At Risk?
Small Farmers Lose Access to:
- Affordable land, equitable markets, and key infrastructure
- Land access program funding – frozen
- Infrastructure projects – halted (irrigation systems, market stands, wash & pack facilities)
- Financial support for local markets, CSAs, and food pantries
Food Pantries & Families Lose Access to:
- FREE pop-up produce markets serving thousands of families
- Pantry food donations—shelves left empty for those in need
- Food rescue programs saving hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh food from going to waste
Our work also includes safeguarding natural resources by supporting sustainable farming practices, protecting local farmland, and fostering a healthy ecosystem. With your support, we can bridge this gap and keep the work moving forward—supporting farmers, strengthening local food systems, and protecting our environment for future generations.
Please consider donating and sharing this campaign to help us meet this moment together. More updates and stories will follow.
