I'm Ann-Sofie Hatmi, based out of Sweden in the northern expanses of Europe. The family this GoFundMe supports are longstanding friends of mine and it is with a heavy heart that I've watched the deterioration they are experiencing, due to the severeness of the situation in Gaza since October 2023, that as of March 2025 is only accelerating.

The family members in need of our support are mother Reham and her three children Anas (eldest son), Juri (middle daughter) and Ibrahim (youngest son). Since October 2023 Reham and her children have been displaced many, many times. The latest in row, number 13, happened in late May 2025. It was shattering, for several reasons.

First came the traumatizing experience of a bomb hitting a nearby building a few days before the displacement, only some 50 meters from them. Thankfully no one in the family was physically hurt, the only death came with the microphone in Reham's telephone ceasing to work.

A couple of days later the family had to flee from the small room they had rented and started decorating with some of the necessities - mattresses, blankets and pillows; carpets for the floor to take away the chill from raw concrete and some structure started for washing, cooking and other necessary tasks in the household.

During the short time they had available before they must run, they could only grab a few items to go with them. Eventually they ended up by the sea, similar to how they lived while in Rafah. They are back in the white plastic tent that is the hallmark of the displaced population (actually, the majority of the 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are displaced from their homes). As you can see they managed to bring some blankets and pillows to arrange a very makeshift bed and a few clothes items.

The real tragedy of this displacement though, is that they were unable to bring any of the stored food with them. Food bought with excessive money and not in any large amounts. But some food in storage is infinitely better than none - which is the family's current situation.

With no external supplies having entered Gaza since the beginning of March 2025, and a lot of the farmland inside the walls has been destroyed, hunger and thirst among the population is a daily occurrence. At the time of writing, end of May 2025, starvation is a very real consequence, especially among the children, but adults are affected too.

The family is when I'm writing this, starved and very, very thirsty. This fundraiser is meant to raise money ongoing, to transfer to the family and allow them a bit of a chance to replace the lost pantry items and get something to eat, at least enough to not go into starvation.
