I still can't believe it. This September (2024), I will be 50 years young and am getting another chance ...
Back in 2005, all I needed to finish getting my B.A. was my upper divisional writing class, and in October of that same year, I underwent neurosurgery and suffered a stroke. That next summer, I took the necessary course and barely passed, but graduated.
For the next twelve years, I did everything possible to physically and mentally rehabilitate. Then in January 2018, I went back to the classroom, first at California State University in San Bernardino (CSUSB), then during Covid, took some virtually through my alma mater, San Diego State University (SDSU).
I have completed 32 quarter units and 49 semester units, with a combined 3.588 GPA!
Anyhow, just before the pandemic, I began looking into Master's programs, and one in particular stood out to me ... University of San Diego's Kroc School of Peace Studies (https://www.sandiego.edu/peace/). From then on for the next four years, I continued taking classes that appealed to me, and in January '23 I applied.
Evidently, at least two of my six letters of recommendation arrived rather late. So they put me on a waiting list, but not enough people declined. As a result, they invited me to take an introductory class and apply again. I wholeheartedly said "yes", earned an "A", reapplied this last January, and was accepted!
Now the next difficult step ... finding the funds. From the campus itself, I received an Award Letter (https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:VA6C2:870c0b29-5f87-43b4-9d6e-e09c707e00e8), telling me that I have earned over $16K to assist in covering my tuition. Then last month (May '24), I found out that I may further be covered by the state's Dept. of Rehabilitation in paying for my tuition, books, supplies, transportation, and housing. All I need now is funding for food and clothing.
So, I ask for your assistance and promise to give back. Thank you very much, and God Bless!
UPDATE: I have now completed 10 unit ... One quarter of the way! My GPA? A 4.0!!! Thank you to everybody that had helped me.
