Hi, my name is Kara and I’m raising funds for food, rent and heat for a single mother with three children who could use your help this coming winter. My mother was a single parent who raised three children on welfare and food stamps. She worked and put herself through college to give us a better life and although we were poor, we were happy and raised with love. Despite her financial circumstance, she would donate money, clothes and baked goods to families in need, particularly around winter and holidays. Her character taught us the virtues of gratitude, giving and genuine love.

The photo in this post is our Thanksgiving dinner 1972, made possible largely through donations from others. We had everything we needed in the world right there at that table.

In the spirit of moms giving heart, I will be raising funds for a family with three children so that they can have food, rent and heat this winter. The identity of the family is private but I’m told the mother lost her job and the money will be used to feed two girls and a boy ages 12 and under. It will be used to provide oil heat in their apartment, clothes and rent. Thank you in advance for anything you can give.
