While we are looking beyond the impact of Covid 19 here in Australia, our Balinese friend Agus and his family are still battling so I have reactivated the Gofund me page.
You all contributed nearly $3000 which kept Agus and his parents, wife and daughters alive.
He has expressed his gratitude often for this generosity.
Things you should know about Agus.
1. Agus' family had to sell their home during the worst of the pandemic, and the 3 generations of his family are now living in a small rental property outside of Canggu which costs them $30/week.
2. There is no longer work as a driver for Agus, a job so he has been employed as a gardener for the last 18 months.
This pays $6.50/day.
3. He is the consummate professional, a spectacularly skilled driver and a calm and gentle person.
4. He is a married father of two young daughters whom he can no longer afford to send to school.
5. His pre-pandemic earnings, of roughly $25/day supported three generations of his family. This obligation was necessary for Agus to fulfil as his now aging parents’ farmland was ‘compulsorily acquired’ by the sons of Soeharto, forcing them to live hand to mouth for the past 40 years.
On behalf of Agus, Matt and I, together with Jules and DM and our children are asking if you could perhaps contribute the cost of a cup of coffee to help he and his family meet this week's rent money.
Thank you,
