Food, Love and Ice Cream for Santa Cruz

"I'm being evacuated." "My family needs me." "My house is gone."
When the calls from our coworkers started coming in with impacts from the CZU Lightning Complex Fires it was hard to know where to begin. We closed the shops, started checking in with our people and took stock.
There were other calls from staff as well and they all basically said the same thing: "What can I do to help?" So we started making food and taking the donations to the evac shelters. Sandwiches from The Picnic Basket and taco kits from Snap Taco.
Next up is Monday August 24th, the 10th birthday(!) of The Penny Ice Creamery and we're planning to be out there where people are sheltering delivering a complimentary cold treat and hopefully a little joy.
With your help our hope is to keep this going beyond what we can sustain alone. As for many small businesses, 2020 has been a gut punch for us. But our community is what matters most and we're going to give everything we can. Anything you can do to support helps and anything that we can't effectively put toward feeding the folks in need will be donated to the relief efforts for the months and years to come.
