Fonseca Surgery Fundraiser

Hi everyone,

An unexpected and unfortunate event occurred this Thursday : Cris cut his thumb badly and deeply, severing a tendon. We hoped for a simple fix, but unfortunately, a plastic surgeon needs to perform the surgery due to the severity and condition of the split tendon. If he doesn’t get that done he will lose mobility in his finger. And we all know how much he needs that to share his musical curation with us, and also for his career.

The cost in Canada for visitors, the surgery is at least $5,000, on top of the $1,320 already charged for the hospital visit from Thursday 10 PM to Friday 10 AM. Cris does not have MSP. (Lesson learned)

We are struggling to gather the funds for the surgery, so another option is for Cris to leave Vancouver for a while fly to Mexico for a cheaper procedure, estimated between $2,000 and $3,000, excluding the flight. He will be unable to work, resulting in significant financial loss.

Cris didn’t want to ask for help, so I’m doing it. We are reaching out for any assistance to either keep Cris here or support him while in Mexico on medical leave and with the costs of the surgery. We’re not expecting to get it all covered but anything will help.
