Fondos para gastos funerales de Norma Veraza

It is with deep sadness and great pain that I share the passing of our dear friend, Norma Yadira Veraza.   Even while taking care and having precautions, Norma contracted the Covid-19 virus but was resting and recuperating at home.  When storm Hanna struck the valley, the family lost electricity for several days which worsened her health. The family tried to find a hotel where they could shelter but they didn't were not able to get accommodations until that following Monday (2 days later). By then Norma was already dehydrated and tired.  That same night, her sister Abby called the ambulance to come for her because her oxygen levels were low.  Norma was hospitalized and the family was only able to get her status updates from the doctors once per day.  It is hard having a family member in the hospital but even worse not being able to hug them, see them and be with them.  We were told that she was stable but that she had developed some blood clots in her system but that she was given blood thinners to alleviate the situation.  We did not imagine that her condition was that serious since we could talk to her and send text messages. We thought that she was recovering and awaited her arrival at home. On Saturday morning her sisters spoke to her and although she sounded tired, they prayed for her recovery.  That same afternoon, around 4 pm, the hospital called to inform the family that Norma had died of a heart attack. We were not given much information just that they tried to resuscitate her for more than 1 hour without success.  We are still in shock.  We cannot believe she is gone.  Everyone who knew Norma would say she was a woman with a big heart, loyal and patient. She worked as a counselor for people with disabilities and helped them find work. She always saw the good in all things and helped everyone around her. She is survived by her husband Noe Veraza, her 12-year-old son Oscar Veraza, her parents Mr. Geronimo Tovar and her mother Petra Tovar Cerda, and her two sisters and great friends Abigail and Janie Tovar, among all her extended family and many friends. 

We ask for prayers for the whole family. We are still coordinating her wake which will be at La Aurora Funeral Home on San Houston Street in the city of Pharr. Time and date unknown at this point because of the amount of people the hospitals and funeral homes are seeing on a daily basis.  This is something new for us and we are trying to manage as best as we can.  We pray you take care of yourself and your family.  Please wear a mask and disinfect everything you touch.  Stay home.  Stay vigilant.  May her passing help us live and learn from her.  She would want us all to be safe and take care.

Es con profunda tristeza y un gran dolor que comparto el fallecimiento de nuestra querida amiga, Norma Yadira Veraza. Aun cuidándose y teniendo precauciones, Norma contrajo el virus Covid-19 pero estaba descansando y mejorando.  Cuando la tormenta Hanna azotó al valle, la familia perdió luz por varios días lo cual empeoro su salud por las altas temperaturas.  La familia trato de encontrar un hotel donde alojarse, pero no pudieron encontraron uno hasta ese lunes (2 días después).  Para entonces Norma ya estaba deshidratada y cansada.  Esa misma noche, su hermana Abby le hablo a la ambulancia para que fueran por ella porque sus niveles de oxígeno estaban bajos.  Norma fue hospitalizada y los doctores nos comunicaban de su progreso 1 vez por día.  Fue muy estresante y difícil el no poder estar con ella en el hospital.  No poder abrazarla, tocarla, verla.  Los doctores solo nos hablaban 1 vez y rápido.  Nos dijeron que estaba estable pero que había desarrollado unos coágulos sanguíneos y que ya la estaban tratando por eso.  No nos imaginábamos que su situación era tan grave ya que podíamos hablar con ella y mandar mensajes de texto.   Pensábamos que se estaba recapacitando y esperabas su llegada a casa.  El sábado por la mañana sus hermanas hablaron con ella y aunque se oía cansada oraban por su recuperación.  El sábado como a las 4 de la tarde, el hospital hablo para comunicar a la familia que Norma había fallecido por un paro al corazón.  Dicen que trataron de resucitarla por más de 1 hora sin éxito. 

Todos los que conocían a Norma dirán que era una mujer de gran corazón, leal y paciente.  Ella trabajaba como consejera a personas con discapacidades y les ayudaba a encontrar trabajo.  Siempre veía lo bueno en todas las cosas y ayudaba a todos a su alrededor.  La sobreviven, su esposo Noe Veraza, su hijo Oscar Veraza de 12 años, sus padres el señor Geronimo Tovar y su madre Petra Tovar Cerda, y sus dos hermanas y grandes amigas Abigail y Janie Tovar.  También deja atrás mucha familia extendida y muchos más amigos.   Les pedimos oraciones por toda la familia y también les pedimos que se cuiden.  Usen su mascarilla.  Desinfecten todo lo que toquen.  Si pueden, quédense en casa.  háganlo por ustedes y por sus seres queridos.  Que su muerte nos ayude a vivir y aprender de ella.

 

Aún estamos coordinando su velorio el cual será en la funeraria La Aurora por la calle San Houston en la cuidad de Pharr.   El tiempo y la hora aun no la sabemos ya que esta pandemia ha cambiado muchas cosas.  Les agradecemos sus oraciones, apoyo y cualquier ayuda que pendan brindar a la familia en estos momentos tan difíciles.
