Following the footsteps of my forefathers

My name is Tenzing Jangbu Sherpa. I am 23. I am from Sunnyvale California and I am the Grandson of Legendary Mountaineer Late Ang Rita Sherpa AKA The Snow Leopard.

My Grandpa is known for climbing Mt Everest 10 times without oxygen. He is also know for having the first ascent of Everest in winter season without oxygen as well. He still holds the record till this day in the Guinness Book of World Records.

My Grandpa passed away in middle of the pandemic last September. It was a huge loss for us, national and international mountaineering community. And this huge loss made me visit my home country Nepal after 12 years of living in the states.

There, I trekked from my mom’s village Rolwaling Valley in Dolakha, Nepal to my dad’s village Khumbu valley in Solukhumbu, Nepal via Tashi laptsa pass, one of the most difficult high-passes in Nepal. This journey continued to Everest Base Camp.

As a little kid I knew my grandpa was popular but this trip highlighted his impact and I was literally in awestruck to understand his contributions in mountaineering fraternity. That is when I decided to climb Everest to honor my Grandpa from the top of the world.

My grandpa has done so much for me and my family personally. When my parents were struggling financially he himself had paid for my boarding school. My dad also came to this country with the help of my Grandpa. Now that he is no longer here with us we should never forget the legacy he has cemented for us specially Nepalese and Sherpas. He is our National hero.

I want to continue his legacy by climbing Mount Everest. The reason I am writing this fundraiser is to be able to climb the Everest and convey my last goodbye to my grandpa’s soul.

I want to do lot of positive works in his name after I climb Everest. I am climbing Mount Everest as a Nepalese American.

The funds for climbing Everest is very high. So, I am reaching out to you guys for any financial, moral and logistics support. I couldn’t be more thankful and grateful to climb in the name of Sherpa, and show my deepest love and respect to my grandpa for what he has done.

Please donate whatever you feel call to do. If you aren’t in a position to donate, please post and share this link. May God always bless us. Thank you.
