MEET NICOLE

Nicole is a beautiful classical singer, an artist, a speaker and an advocate. She is passionate about music and academics. She lights up any room with her smile. Nicole is a wonderful daughter, sister, partner, and friend, and tries to make the most of what each day has to offer. Unfortunately, Nicole spends each day managing her health and her debilitating pain, spending much of her day in bed. She pushes herself each day to take steps towards her future but is often in too much pain to do the things wants and needs to do. Her life is consumed with hospital stays, appointments and navigating her complex health. We are so grateful to everyone who is a part of this "Journey of Love" as we look for ways to help Nicole regain her quality of life.

A MESSAGE FROM NICOLE

My name is Nicole and I recently turned 21. Over the last few years, I have experienced severe medical issues as a result of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and Chronic Pancreatitis. CF is a life-threatening genetic condition that impacts the lungs and digestive system. Chronic Pancreatitis causes deterioration of the pancreas resulting in severe pain.

Living with these conditions is very difficult with severe, constant abdominal pain which drastically limits my functioning. It is very difficult to manage the many symptoms, medications, and treatments. The only treatment options available to help regain my quality of life involve huge out-of-pocket expenses, such as surgical assessments outside of Canada.

It will be a long journey, but I'm hoping these treatments will help me regain my health, return to my university program and one day work in music therapy.

OUR 'GOFUNDME' JOURNEY!

Phase 1

Our journey kicked off with a triathlon organized by Nicole’s Uncle, David Graham. He travelled by cycling, swimming and hiking from his door in Muskoka to Nicole’s door in Aurora, and was joined along the way by friends and family. His journey raised over $11,000!

Phase 2

Our GoFundMe page will remain open as we continue to raise funds to help Nicole cover the costs of consultations regarding her condition and treatments to improve her quality of life. A special thank you to Jody and Brian for choosing to support Nicole’s medical journey in lieu of gifts for their wedding! Congratulations!!!

FINANCIALS

Over the past couple of years, Nicole and her family have had many out-of-pocket expenses, investing in many therapies and treatments to help her condition. Nicole is looking into several options which may help her condition and she is currently under assessment for TPIAT (total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation). This involves a very expensive consultation in Minnesota and related travel costs. The following year will continue to have thousands of dollars of expenses related to helping Nicole regain her quality of life. These options will hopefully allow Nicole to return to her university program.

100% of donations will go directly to a trust fund for Nicole's treatment plan.
