Folkestone Rowing Club Channel Challenge
Donation protected
Thanks for visiting our Gofundme page.
This summer, the first female crew in Folkestone Rowing Club’s history will row the channel in honour of one of our much missed members, who sadly passed away in 2019.
Jenna Parsons (Watkins) was introduced to the club at a few weeks old. Jenna started racing as a coxswain, and earned her place as a senior rower by winning race after race in her career. Despite suffering from a brain tumour she competed at the South Coast Championship in 2016. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, and her loss hit our club very hard.
Brain cancer is the biggest killer of young children and adults under forty, but receives only one percent of government research funding. Our female rowers have decided to raise money for Brainstrust, a charity which supports people with brain cancer, by rowing the English Channel in Jenna’s honour.
We also want to be able to share our experience on the water with as many people as possible. We’ll be working with a great local CIC who help disabled people experience the sea and we will also be raising money for them.
We are greatly appreciative of any amount you are able to donate. Thank you.
