Andrea Margarita Blanco Garcia

We are organizing this Go Fund Me to support the the family of Andrea Garcia, Flor Garcia's niece. Flor has been a wonderful part of our community for many years and works with many families in our area, and she has been like family to mine for 10 years.

Andrea was 21. She was a very strong student with an ambitious plan. She recently completed a degree in medicine she was hoping to go to medical school in the US. During Covid, she provided invaluable medical support to her community, risking her own health to help others. Her dream was to go to medical school in the US and becoming a doctor.

Tragically, last week, Andrea died after walking for 3 days from Guatemala to the US. She crossed the US boarder into New Mexico, but shortly thereafter succumbed to the elements. We share Flor and her family's incredible grief in this difficult time.

The family is going through the process to get Andrea's body sent home to Guatemala so she can be put to rest properly. This is an incredibly expensive endeavor, honestly I was shocked at the cost. Total cost for returning the body is $9,200 and with the additional cost of funeral services, we have set a goal of raising $10,000.
