Meet Nala
My 5 year old American Shorthair. The smallest bean with a big heart. Today started like any other day, but it has turned into my worst nightmare.
My sweet Nala, was rushed to the emergency vet after showing signs of respiratory distress. The news was devastating. She has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
She currently has a dangerous buildup of fluid around her lungs (pleural effusion), which is making every breath a struggle for her. The doctor and nurses were able to do a small stabilization treatment for now, but they did recommend more emergent and invasive treatment to prolong her life and to promote better comfort. The veterinary team has given me a verbal estimate of $5,000-$6,000 for the full cardiology workup and hospital stay she needs in order to save her life. This includes:
Cardiac imaging (Echocardiogram)
Emergent fluid drainage from her lungs (Thoracentesis
Life-saving medications and breathing/oxygen support
Why I Need Your Help:
This diagnosis was completely sudden. Nala is only 5 years old—she should have so many more years of sun-naps and head-bumps ahead of her. The costs for emergency stabilization, oxygen therapy, and cardiac specialist fees are more than I can manage alone. I am doing everything I can do to save her, but I need a village to help me get the specialized care she needs.
How the Funds Will Be Used:
Every dollar raised will go directly to Nala’s veterinary bill at Pet Emergency Treatment and Specialties for her workup, fluid management and long term stability costs.
If we are blessed enough to raise more than the final hospital bill, every extra cent will be put into a dedicated fund for Nala’s ongoing heart medications and follow up cardiology appointments.
In exchange for your kindness, you will receive my heartfelt gratitude that you have played a direct role in saving Nala’s life. I commit to total transparency: I will post regular updates here on her recovery, including photos and videos as she hopefully returns to her happy, healthy self. I will also share photos of her medical progress and receipts so you can see exactly how your donation is helping her heal.
You aren’t just donating; you are becoming part of Nala’s survival story.
Even if you cannot donate, please consider sharing Nala’s story on social media. She is my world, and I just want to keep her healthy ❤️
