Support Trevor Rutledge in His Fight Against ALS

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and supporters:
In May 2024—at the age of 40 and after just finding out his wife was expecting their 3rd child (a boy) Trevor Rutledge found out he was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease). His symptoms started just two months after they finally tied the knot in December. Who could have seen the tragedy coming around the corner?

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease-causing muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventual respiratory system failure. Despite being known for over a century, it remains severely underfunded, and approved treatments only hope to slow progression and extend survival by a few months. Every patient’s timeline is dramatically different.

Although ALS has no known cure, there are medications and early-stage therapies that are available, and Trevor has been a fighter with a positive attitude trying everything that is offered in hopes to fight this devastating disease. His hope is to live as long as possible to see a cure and to help raise his family with his wife Jenna. Not all medication and treatments are covered through health insurance. Family is trying their best to help provide financial support along with daily physical help and household needs as well.

Our goal now is to raise enough funds to provide Trevor with a proper bedroom and bathroom to accommodate his daily needs. This is not an expense they were planning for and could have saw coming when they bought their home 3 years ago, but it is a necessary build that they cannot hold off moving forward with and therefore the home improvement team will get started with the funds that the family has raised to this point. Winter is coming and the foundation must get started.

At this time, he can no longer use his shower, and it limits the hygiene needs he is provided due to having to travel to another family member’s home. This task has become even harder due to Jenna being pregnant and having her own limitations as time goes on. She is scheduled to have their baby 11/4/2024 via C-section and this will cause several weeks of downtime while she recovers and before she can resume handling a 200lb man which she has been doing her whole pregnancy.

When Trevor has falls in the bedroom or bathroom his 2 young daughters and other family members must pull him across the floor to the living room in order to get him onto his Hoyer lift because of the limited space in their home.

This disease has stolen so much from them already and they mourn each motor skill that slowly stops working, like needing help to eat and drink, getting dressed and getting in and out of bed among so many others. They mourn the plans they can’t make and the future they don’t know they will see with their growing children.

Trevor and his family need your support, and they cannot fight this battle without all of you.

To fight it, Trevor, his wife, and their children will need support for costs of in-home medical and personal care, equipment and accessibility renovations to their home, and medical expenses and alternative therapies not covered by insurance.

To support them in this fight, we are asking for your support by donating to help Trevor and his family defray the financial burdens of fighting ALS.

Thank you in advance for your support and being part of Trevor’s tribe.
