A Husband & Wife Team in Need!
A "Team of 2"
Together for over 30 years, we, like many other happily married couples faced many challenges, trials, and tribulations. As is has been said "it has been the best of times, it has been the worst of times"! Our lives in general were pretty much mundane as most are. We built our home, established our careers, raised our two beautiful daughters and now enjoy our first grandchild. Little did we know that our lives would change dramatically in one day, one moment and the be the beginning of our financial hardships.
In 2009, after encountering serious health issues, I was diagnosed with a potentially fatal pancreatic mass caused from chronic pancreatitis. This diagnosis would lead us to numerous doctors, health care facilities and specialists in the field of complex GI pancreatic diseases.
Although our lives were turned upside down by this diagnosis, we continued to fight the good fight to maintain some type of normalcy in our family. What once defined our lives as normal, would be re-defined by the countless number of doctors appointments, surgeries, surgical procedures, endless visits to emergency care facilities, hospitals which included universities, medical speciality hospitals (taking us as far as Cinncinatti Ohio and Houston Texas), a myriad of tests leading to a critical complex surgery in 2010, and the ever mounting financial crisis we would encounter.
As a result of my deteriorating condition, I could no longer work. Due to my degrading medical condition, my husband as my primary caregiver stood by my side throughout this most difficult time in our lives. The physical and emotional stress took its toll on both of us. As my condition improved briefly following a life saving surgery, I knew that I would be fighting a life long battle with this disease.
Even though this new way of life took some getting adjusted to, we were adjusting as best as we could, when reality showed itself and the after effects that would always be with me to deal with began to soon. Since that very first day until now, my husband was always at my side and in some cases it was not just days at a time but weeks. This, was no longer allowing him to maintain a 40 hour, full time work week.
With already the loss of my income and the unknown of what his income would be with each paycheck, our life savings was depleted to pay our insurmountable medical bills and expenses which included those things that insurance does not cover while still having to maintain a home and raise 2 daughters. Our financial hardships started a spiral downfall. We face losing our home, and are barely able to make a meager existence.
Within this past year, my medical condition has taken a backwards direction. My future treatment could possibly require a pancreatic auto transplantation that will put to question my quality of life. This past September my husband suffered an unforeseen injury which led to surgery and intense physical therapy and put him off work for several months. Adding that to his cardiac related and diabetic health problems, we both face new challenges daily.
We have no choice but to continue to pay our bills with what we can and fulfill other financial obligations. We are good, kind, caring and giving people who are facing an unexpected, and long term crisis that has challenged us in ways we never thought would occur.
In that one instant that took my career and my future, now has me fighting for my life a second time as well as the fact, we're not able to save our home. It's a critical time for us. We're still hoping to touch the hearts of many who may want to help us during this crucial time, to save our home and save a life. With the holidays fast approaching, this is a time of being thankful.
a time of feeling blessed for the things we have. We're feeling hopelessness, helplessness and desperation. We need a miracle to be thankful for and hope for brighter days ahead. Every little bit counts. Everyone matters and our future depends on it. We would be forever grateful. I believe God blesses those who bless others. We hoping to be the receivers of many blessing, thru your kindness and generosity.
We would be grateful for you to join our "Team of Two" to help give us back hope. We have faith that there are many good people (like us) in this world who want to help and pay it forward. One day this Husband and Wife "Team of 2", hopes to be able to do the same for others like us. We would be Thankful in a way that words can not express for any assistance that would be offered in this time of need. Thank You!
