Please support my FND research study
Donation protected
Thank you to everyone who has donated. I've reached my target! any extra donations will be used to promote our local fnd moray group
Hello! My name is Claire Faie, and I live with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Non-Epileptic Seizures (NEAD). It’s estimated that between 50,000 and 100,000 people in the UK have FND, yet many healthcare professionals remain unaware of it. This condition disproportionately affects women, who make up 60% to 75% of patients, and it is one of the most common reasons for consultations with neurologists. Together, we can work to break the stigma surrounding this condition.
Over the last few months I've set up a local FND support group that has grown to 60 members. This close-knit community has been an invaluable source of support during tough times, and I am committed to expanding our reach and promoting greater awareness.
And finally the main reason why I'm setting up this go fund me:
After many attempts trying to get on to research trials and studies for FND. I had a successful screening yesterday and now have a place at the kings college London to take part in a study involving a day in the lab and then the second day having an MRI.
The only challenge I face now is funding my travel. While we receive £75 for expenses, traveling from the Northeast of Scotland to London will incur higher costs. Any additional funds raised will not only support my travel but will also assist others in our local group who may be accepted into the research study. Should we raise more than needed for travel & accommodation, the funds will go towards promoting our group.
I will ensure to share photos of all receipts related to your donations.
Asking for help isn’t easy for me, but this research is incredibly important. I understand that times are tough, so please don’t feel obligated to donate if it would cause you hardship. Even sharing this fundraiser would mean a lot to me!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I truly appreciate your support.
Warm regards,
Claire
