In Loving Memory of My Momma, Teresa weers/Leckenby

My name is Samantha, and I am Teresa’s daughter. We tragically lost my mom yesterday after an Amazon truck driver ran a red light at Duportail and 240.

My mother was an amazing grandmother. She loved her grandchildren more than life itself, and she never showed up empty-handed. Before the accident yesterday, she had stopped at 7/11 to get my daughter and my other five children Slurpees, because Grandma would never come without a surprise for her grandbabies.

She got back in the car and drove to a stoplight on Duportail in Richland, Washington. When the light turned green, she began to turn left, and that’s when an Amazon semi truck driver hit her. My mom was instantly gone.

My 8-year-old daughter was in the back of the Subaru my mom was driving, and she remembers everything. She knew something bad had happened and jumped out in the middle of the bypass. A kind woman got her to safety, and my brave daughter gave her my phone number. Deep down, I knew my mom was gone before anyone even had to tell me.

My momma was my hero. She was a giver, and she loved her family with everything she had. Losing her this way has shattered us. We are trying to stay strong while grieving this unimaginable loss and helping my daughter heal from the trauma of what she witnessed.

I am the sole provider for my six children, and right now I cannot return to work. My focus has to be on getting my baby the help she needs after this trauma and giving my mother the service she deserves. I am asking for help with funeral and memorial expenses for my momma, Teresa, as well as support for our family during this painful time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help us lay my momma to rest with dignity, care for my children, and get through the difficult days ahead.

If you cannot donate, that’s okay. My mom was the kind of person who would say that if you could just look both ways when you’re at a light, even when it turns green, that would mean more than any dollar amount. Please keep my daughter, my dad who was her husband for 33 years my brother (her firstborn) our family, and everyone involved in your prayers. Please pray everyone who seen this tragedy happen. I have gotten an outpouring of messages of people that were there and how this community came together to try to save my mother and protect her.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers, support, and love.
