Help Me Go to Washington DC with Close Up!
Hi! I'm a student in the University High School Deaf and Hard of Hearing program, and I have an incredible opportunity to go to Washington DC for one week with the Close Up program this May. I'm raising funds to make this educational trip possible.
What I'll Experience
During this week, I'll:
Participate in the Close Up program – interactive workshops on government and civic engagement
Tour the U.S. Capitol and meet with congressional representatives
Visit Gallaudet University – the world's only university for Deaf and hard of hearing students
Explore the Smithsonian museums and national monuments
Learn how democracy works firsthand
Why This Matters to Me
As a Deaf student, opportunities like this don't come around often. This trip will give me accessible, hands-on learning about American government and let me meet Deaf role models at Gallaudet University. I'll see what's possible for my future and learn how to be an active, engaged citizen.
