From Huldie:
Nicolas Junior, aka Joker, my husband and father of our six children and “part-time” grandfather of two, died on Thursday. He suffered cardiac arrest. We hoped and prayed over him for 5 days before life support was removed and he went into surgery to give the gift of organ donation. We spent all of that time loving him and truly wished for a different outcome.
Nicole, Sophia, Little Junior, Arjae, Didi, Ava and I are devasted. We’re just trying to figure out how to move through our lives that are now so different. So many hopes and dreams have been shattered and we’re just going to miss him so very much.
He loved and adored his children, grandchildren, and me with every ounce of his being. Until his last breath, he protected us. His final act of protection was his peaceful passing. He loved music, but especially salsa. He took his last breaths listening to his favorite song, “Me tengo que ir.”
Junior had the biggest heart. He was incredibly kind and generous. He was funny, but not nearly as funny as he thought he was, but we don’t have to talk about that now. He never experienced embarrassment, there was no shaming this man. He would moon anybody!
His favorite color was green. He loved working on his car. His most recent obsession was to upgrade his sound system to a level that would annoy me. He loved playing cards, dominos, pool, bowling, and video games. He ALWAYS cheated at monopoly. He was the biggest sore loser.
He loved all Chicago teams. He loved AND hated The Bears and took their losses as his own thinking HE was a Chicago Bear player and coach all wrapped into one.
In the famous words of Junior, “Ew, I’m out,” with his signature salute.
Please, if you have any memories of Junior, feel free to share them with us and everyone you know. Help us keep Junior’s memory alive.
We have so many unexpected expenses that have come up through this and with the sudden loss of his income, we could use support. If you are in a position to help, no amount is too small.
Thank you.
