Hello Folks,
Many of you may know that on December 18th, I had an accident at work and fully dislocated my kneecap on the right side. I had to be taken to the ER by ambulance and have been working through a lengthy recovery at home.
I am writing this on January 4th, which finds me still waiting on workers' compensation to activate and to have the first of what no doubt will be many doctor's visits and visits to rehab.
Google estimates average recovery time for this kind of injury to be 6-8 weeks for normal walking and 3-4 months till normal activities can be resumed. As many people know, my job is extremely physically demanding and I will likely not be able to return until I am at full function.
I have been out of work since the 18th and am receiving no money of any kind. Funds are running dry and I am worried about being able to continue to pay our rent, bills, and buy necessities like food.
It would mean the world to my son, Sebastian, and me if we could make it through this difficult period without having to orchestrate a troublesome move into a camper or onto a relative's couch.
We are hoping to be able to stay put and not need to uproot our lives, including moving all of our stuff down a flight of stairs while I am unable to bear much weight on my leg or walk without crutches/braces.
Anything you can give will be put to good use!
