I’m Hannah and I’m a solo animal rescuer in the Philippines.

Over the past 4 years, I’ve saved over 50 animals from starvation, horrifying abuse, hit and runs, just about any disease you can think of, and even being eaten, since I live in an area of the Islands where dog meat is consumed despite it being illegal.

I’ve spent countless hours bottle feeding tiny kittens, helping dogs learn to walk again, even assisting the rural vet with emergency surgery. It’s been a wild ride.

Though I’ve extended as long as I can, my time in the Philippines is coming to an end. Even though I’m ready to go home, I wont abandon my current pack- mostly unadoptable dogs who will stay permanently with me, and a few who will go to adoptive homes in the states.

And that’s where I need some help to keep helping. Just this year, the CDC implemented new, strict guidelines on dogs entering the USA and hefty fees for each requirement. A ticket for a medium size dog to ride in cargo is more expensive than a human ticket in economy. The required blood tests cost as much as a night in a 5 star hotel PER animal, and the CDC checkup when they reach the airport is over a thousand dollars per dog! These prices are privatized, unpublished and unregulated and add up to an amount that’s impossible to handle all on my own.

The dogs in my care have suffered so much, and I am devoted to making sure they have the best lives imaginable for their remaining years. I can’t wait to see them thrive as happy, healthy pups in the USA!

Why can't the dogs just be adopted out in the Philippines instead of going through the traumatic and expensive journey to the USA?

While 14 of my current fostered rescues WILL be finding homes in the Philippines before my departure, the 8 who will fly with me either need specialized care due to aggression, trauma, or medical issues, or have found adoptive families in the USA but not in the Philippines in time for my departure.
