Ghost’s story

Ghost is an Indian stray puppy who was found on a road in agonizing pain by some kind passerby. She was barely 2 months old and had been run over by a motorbike, which left her with multiple fractures and ripped the skin off her foot. Although the accident broke her bones, it didn’t break her spirit! She has now recovered from this ordeal and is ready to be adopted. We would absolutely love to add this sweet little pup to our family and we need your help in bringing her home to the UK. Do you want to know more about Ghost and her story? Continue reading...

Luckily for her, once she was found, Ghost was taken to Peepal Farm, an animal rescue organization based in Dhanotu village, India, in the Himalayan foothills. Although she arrived late at night, the veterinary team at the farm performed emergency treatment on her, stabilizing her and suturing her wound. Without this timely treatment, she would have died on the streets. Sadly, this is the fate that many stray animals in India suffer and organizations like Peepal Farm really do incredible work to help these injured stray animals (not just dogs, but cats, goats and cows too!)

You can find out more about Peepal Farm by visiting their website:  https://peepalfarm.org/ or their Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/peepalfarm/

The costs

Ghost is now fully recovered and ready to be adopted. She has grown into a super sweet pup (she is 5 months old now), who gets along well with other dogs, cats and children. We cannot wait to welcome her here! Unfortunately sending a dog to the UK costs a lot of money and any contribution towards this would be very much appreciated. The money you donate will be used by Peepal Farm and the veterinary team at New Delhi for :

Blood tests to confirm protection from Rabies
Microchipping
Paperwork and veterinary certificate
Transportation and airline costs
Animal reception centre (ARC) and airport handling fees

About us :)

Before you donate, you probably want to be sure that Ghost will be well taken care of in her new home. I can assure you that we would be great pet parents! My name is Jyothika and I am from Mumbai, India but I have been living in the UK for the past 7 years. Me and my husband Iker both work at the University of Nottingham, we are both researchers. We moved into our house in Stapleford last year and after years of discussions and speculation about adopting a dog, we were finally ready to take the plunge this year, having settled down in our new home. We live in a great neighbourhood, we have great, friendly neighbours, parks within walking distance and have already made doggie friends in the area who I’m sure Ghost would love to meet.

You are probably also wondering as to why we would want to raise all this money to adopt a dog from India. If you have visited India and have had the chance to witness how difficult it is for stray animals there, then you probably understand. But for those who haven’t, being a stray in India is a very tough life. It is not easy for stray animals to be adopted, especially females. Having worked with animal rescue charities in Mumbai, I have seen this firsthand.  Although Peepal Farm and other rescues do a great job, they can only do so much with the money and space they have. Once we adopt Ghost, we will free up space for another injured animal who can be housed and treated at the farm. We have a home to give and we want to do our part to try and help these animals. Together, with every small contribution, I hope we can cover the costs needed to fly Ghost home.

How you can help

If you can, please consider making a donation, no matter how small. Every penny is appreciated, and will help us get that much closer to our target. Donating on this page is the easiest way for us to keep track of all the funds coming in for Ghost's flight. You can pay in any currency but the donation amount will be in pounds.

Alternatively, you can also donate directly to Peepal Farm via their websitehttps://peepalfarm.org/support
Here you can pay in Indian rupees, by bank transfer or PayTM. Please make sure you leave a note saying that the donation is for Ghost, or if this option isn't available, please send them an email to let them know. That way your funds can be used to support Ghost’s costs. If you could also leave me a message to let me know you have donated directly to the farm, that would be ideal.

If you cannot donate, please share this page with your friends and family. Help us spread the message! Every share is equally appreciated. Bringing more people to this page is key, so please do help us with that.

If this page made you think about adopting a dog yourself, that is fantastic. :) Peepal Farm have more doggies in need of homes, take a look at their adoption page: https://peepalfarm.org/adopt or alternatively contact a local animal rescue centre. :)

Thank you so much for reading this!

Love,
Jyothika, Iker and Ghost
