Fly for STEAME Southern Africa Initiative

To make a difference in the world, you must dream big.

Dare To Dream  is a non-profit organization empowering youth, women and girls by introducing them to the many career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and Entrepreneurship (STEAME), especially in the fields of Aviation and Aerospace.  The organization positively impacts these lives through education, networking, mentorship and scholarships.  Based at the Botswana Innovation Hub Science and Technology Park, Dare To Dream has provided educational programs to more than 20,000 girls, mostly in rural areas and disadvantaged communities.

Fly for STEAME Southern Africa Initiative

After years of success in Botswana, Dare To Dream is expanding to the surrounding countries, partnering with Meyers AeroConsulting LLC , a U.S. consulting firm.  Our new Fly for STEAME Southern Africa Initiative will provide a one-day educational workshop in each of these countries:  Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.  We are planning this program for September of 2022, to ensure the coronavirus is well behind us and to experience good weather.

Our team will fly a “general aviation” aircraft into each country over the course of several weeks, to host STEAME education workshops for 100 young girls at each location.  By flying across Southern Africa, partnering with local companies and non-profit organizations in each country, Dare To Dream hopes to show the next generation of young girls that their aspirations are achievable and dreams attainable.

The financial support our team is seeking will be used to fund early initiatives to plan the details of the program and secure corporate sponsors.  Specific uses of these early funds will include:

    • Acquiring 100 computer tablets for program participants and loading them with information on STEAME to provide more holistic, impactful learning experiences.

    • Mobilizing resources for local and regional campaigns on radio, television and social media.

    • Providing funding for completion of critical early planning tasks.

    • Travel expenses for members of our team to visit and build relationships with partner organizations in Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

A donation of $25 will pay for a radio ad in Botswana.
A donation of $50 will help pay for detailed flight planning.
A donation of $100 will pay for an educational tablet for one young girl.

Any amount is meaningful to us and greatly appreciated! No donation is too small!

Dare To Dream inspires youth, women and girls, as well as other organizations, to take action to transform communities and change the world.  Thank you for your support in helping us provide opportunities to young girls across Southern Africa.
