Hello! My name is Jessica Sherer, and this summer, I have the opportunity to take my students to study music in Italy! We are asking for your help in raising funds for their tuition at this amazing festival. Thanks for taking the time to look at our page! ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
I will be serving on the faculty of the Orfeo Music Festival, in the city of Vipiteno in the Italian Alps. My students will join me for an intensive program during which they will perform solo, chamber, and orchestral music, be coached by internationally renowned faculty, and hear world class professional performances. All of this will take place in the picturesque mountains of Italy, a country with one of the richest musical histories in the world.
Previous attendees of this festival have desribed the experience as "mind-blowing" and "once-in-a-lifetime." I can personally attest to the positive influence summer music festivals had on me during my formative years. They offer equal parts inspiration, motivation, and education, and I am thrilled that these students will get to have this experience!
MEET THE STUDENTS
The students who will be attending range in age from 9th to 12th grade, and represent the most accomplished, responsible, and motivated students in the studio. Some are seasoned and experienced upperclassmen, and some are just starting to realize their tremendous potential. Their accomplishments include memberships in the Georgia All-State and District Honor Bands, positions in the Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Wind Ensemble and the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, and many hold leadership positions in their school ensembles. Previous summer festivals attended include the Atlanta Chamber Music Festival and the UGA Summer Music Institute. Please consider helping them add Orfeo Music Festival to this impressive list of achievements!
