Flute Study Abroad in Italy! ◡̈

Hi! My name is Amanda Mendiola, and I’m an Instrumental Music Education major at CSU Long Beach. I’ve recently been accepted into the CSU Summer Arts program for the Complete 21st Century Flutist- a three week intensive course on all things flute in Mondoví, Italy. It is an amazing course with some of the world’s best performers and educators and it usually takes place at Fresno State, so taking an international trip like this is truly once in a lifetime. I’ll get to experience individual flute lessons, group lessons, technique-specific masterclasses, and multiple performance opportunities including salon concerts where we play in local restaurants for the public. This course would help me grow as a performer, educator, and overall person.

I’ve had a good deal of hardships in the past year alone between my father’s sudden passing in March of 2022 and being involved in a car accident in March of this year. These events have given me a new lease on life, and I want to take every opportunity I can to experience all that life has to offer.

I was awarded a scholarship to cover most of the tuition costs, but am still responsible for housing and airfare. Anything helps, and I promise to post lots of pictures/videos!
