FLOYD IVDD JOURNEY

this go fund me is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I have to set my pride aside and ask for your help! I found out that my fur baby “Floyd” as you all know or may not know was diagnosed with IVDD. IVDD is a a condition of the discs between vertebrae with loss of cushioning, fragmentation and herniation. Which causes them to lose sensation on their back legs while becoming paralyzed. This started in sept 2022 when I realized he was trembling and did not want to move. So I thought he had eaten something or did something he shouldn’t have… but the tremors continued till 1 am. I immediately knew something was wrong and rushed him to the ER, $1200 later they did an X-ray and discovered his spine looked like a 15 year old dog (he’s 3). They sent me home with pain meds and steroids for 2 weeks with little to no movement. The vet referred me to neurologist and pre diagnosed him with IVDD. So I was unable to get him pet insurance because he was already pre diagnosed with IVDD on his medical records. I did my best to restrict him

From jumping, or going up and down the stairs, but sure enough the had another episode today! I came back from the gym and he was trembling worse than before. Only this time he did not want to move from his bed while sitting for almost early an hour while falling asleep. I knew exactly what it was and called the neurologist right away as an emergency visit to get him seen! Right now the visit alone is $270 for a consultation and MRI IS $4800-$6000 with out insurance. Once they have been able to pin point exactly where the herniation or disc is they can better tell me where the surgery will be. (Cervical or lumbar ) this surgery costs from $10,000-$15,000. After surgery he will need physical therapy, etc. I will do anything for my dog. He is my best friend and anyone who has met Floyd knows what a special place he holds in their heart.
