The Flowers Crossing Mighty Marlins have been a fixture in the Gwinnett County Swim league for over 20 years. We are a summer league swim team that is managed by a group of volunteer parents. We operate outside the HOAs of both Flowers Crossing and Flowers Crossing at the Mill, thus, we receive no funds from either.
Our registration fees are set to join the concession revenue in paying for three things: coaches' salaries, awards, team parties. Maintenance on the items we need for meets is not part of these revenue streams because the needs are very infrequent. Summer 2017 is going to be a year where maintenance is needed.
The starter that we currently use was originally purchased in 2001. It has been refurbished once. The lane ropes are at least 10 years old, if not older. They simply cannot tighten properly due to wear and tear.
By reaching our goal, the team will be able to purchase new lane ropes, and a new starting system.
At this time, we are posting this Go Fund Me on the team FB page. Feel free to share with family members/friends. Another way to help us earn more money is to simply spread the word about the swim team, asking all of your friends to join and have fun this summer!
