Flores Family Road to Residency

Donation protected

I never thought I would be making one of these for my own family...but many people have reached out and want to support us and have requested I create one...so here we are. If you know us and have followed our journey, it's felt like every little thing that could go wrong or delay us, has.

My husband was brought here when he was 5 from Mexico, and has his DACA (Dreamer). We were given 3 week notice of his residency appoint after waiting over 17 months to get one! The notice was really 2 weeks, because he had to be there almost a full week early in order to complete the required physical exam and biometrics. Unfortunately, I had abdominal surgery on Monday the 17th, and my husband had to leave Tuesday the 18th at 5:30am to start his journey to Ciudad Juarez.

We have 3 young children (8, 5, and 3) and a full life here as you can imagine. Given just 2 weeks notice, we worked with our immediate support network (family and friends who are family) and made it happen.

Yesterday (the 24th) my husband went in for his interview in Ciudad Juarez and was told that we do not make enough to meet financial minimums. Which is not true. Our lawyer even checked again and said that we do meet it so there was no reason for this. The consulate official told my husband he had until Thursday morning to find a joint sponsor and turn in all the necessary paperwork. We staid up until 1am working on the papers required so he could submit everything asap today (Tuesday). Our lawyer reviewed the information and said it was solid. My husband received his courier address, from USCIS. This is sort of like a support ticket. You submit a request to turn in requested documents, and they give you a location to meet with a courier. He went to the courier, and they refused to accept his packet. They said that they do not accept papers in person and he would have to mail everything in. He tried to advocate, but they still turned him down. He called the lawyer, and she was baffled...but told him to do what they say. He went right away to mail in the packet, and was told it will be received by tomorrow, Wednesday the 26th. He was told by officials that they now have another 10 business days to process this new information and make their determination. This puts my husband there until June 9th.

As you can imagine, this is quite upsetting. We have a child in therapy for special needs, childcare costs, loss of income from my husband, additional expenses we were not prepared for like food & hotel, extra costs for flexible date insurance to fly him home...etc.

I'm tired, my heart is tired....my recovery has been harder for this. My kids miss their daddy and don't understand why he can't just come back from Mexico.

Anything donated will go to the known and unknown costs incurred for this process. Anything extra I will be donating to support others who are in our situation.

Once this is over, my lawyer and I will be filing grievance with every elected official possible. This process has been awful, and people need to know the truth.

If you aren't comfortable donating here, I do have CashApp and Venmo both under Annastashia Flores.
