Florence is 6 years old and met Ted who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy at preschool 3 years ago. They now go to school together. Florence absolutely adores Ted and is never too far from his side at school. Florence will be walking 96K in 30 days followed by a hike up the highest mountain in southern Britain to the summit of Pen Y Fan. This is to raise money to go towards Ted's equipment and extra physio sessions to build up his core strength. This will help him be more independent in the future.

A word from Ted's parents:

Ted and his twin brother Alex were born almost 12 weeks early. They spent 9 weeks in NICU and as a result Ted has quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. This means his brain sends the wrong messages to his muscles and he suffers from stiffness. Quadriplegic means it can affect all the muscles in his body. Ted is a full time wheelchair user and also relies on other equipment including a stander, a walker, bath seat and a special toilet seat.

 

Cerebral Palsy doesn’t affect intelligence and Ted attends mainstream school with his twin where he is excelling in maths and reading. It is so important to make sure his physical needs are met to ensure he keeps up with his friends both academically and in the playground!

 

Ted enjoys being outside either in the garden, helping to clean out the chickens, or out for walks. He loves watching sport, he especially enjoys watching cricket, his favourite players are James Anderson, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow and Mark Wood

 

As Ted grows, so does his equipment and it can be hard keeping up! He also would hugely benefit from extra physio sessions, and therapy sessions such as horse riding, gymnastics and hydrotherapy which would help him build up his core strength, and hopefully help him to be more independent in the future.
