Florence's campaign for Cystic Fibrosis Trust
My name is Florence and I am ten years old. I have a condition called Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis or CF as you might hear people say is a genetic lung condition, which makes me produce more mucus on my lungs than other people.
Orkambi is the most recent drug that I am taking. I have to take it 4 times a day. Can you believe that this drug costs £250,000 per year just for one person like me! That means each tablet I take is about £100.
When I found out how much it costs, I decided I wanted to do some fund raising for Cystic Fibrosis so other children like me would have the chance to use this miracle drug! I am ten this year, so am trying to complete 10 fundraisers during the year.
In November, my school chose to support the charity. Mr Stokes, my PE teacher ran a marathon, and my friends at school ran ten miles in ten hours to help raise money for the charity.
On 19th June I am running a sponsored swim for 10 year old Florence, who is raising money for Cystic Fibrosis. Florence and her friends will be be swimming 12 miles between them (that's 1545 lengths!!) See poster below for more information and visit her go fund me page to read more of her story and to support this amazing cause if possible. Many Thanks, Julie
During the summer term Florence and her friends carried out the following challenges:
A car wash event carried out at pupils homes raising £150.
A car boot at Leek cattle market where Florence sold her old toys and donated items raising £350.
Florence's gymnastic club Balance & Beam on Festival Park carried out a week of fundraising activities with all the members donating £2 this raised a massive £948.
St Luke's charity day for Cystic Fibrosis raised a fantastic £447.
Florence has decided to continue her fundraising past her 11th birthday as she is so close to her £10,000 target.
Please donate what you can to help!
