Florenca lost her battle

Trots alla insatser fick Flora lämna oss för Trapalandas evigt gröna ängar.

Insamlingen kommer att fortsätta då kampen för hennes liv blev en dyr historia. Att nu behöva tampas med ett försäkringsbolag som inte ersätter mer än 30 % av den totala fakturan känns otroligt tungt och vi tror inte vi vinner den kampen heller.

Florenca, (smeknamn Flora) var en fantastisk individ. En vänlig själ med stort hjärta och mycket spirit. För 5 år sedan blev hon en av få som räddades ur en övertänd stallbyggnad. Vi tackar för de bonusår som vi fick ha henne. Hon var många olika delar i vårt pussel- den trygga tillsammans med barnen, den ivriga tillsammans med Ulrica i Bohus Elfsborgs Caroliners kavalleri, den mysiga som valde sina människor och tom under sin tid på Husaby hästakut fick hon personalen att göra det lilla extra.

Hennes insjuknande kom som en chock. På två timmar gick hon från att vara livlig och som vanligt till kritiskt sjuk.

Intensivbehandling på Husabys hästakut under isolering i drygt en vecka visade alla vilken kämpe hon var. Hennes livsvilja och mod var stort. Diagnosen är fortfarande oklar men någon typ av förgiftning som utvecklades till en tarminflammation med sepsis.

När läget var kritiskt och diskussionen om plasmabehandling (14 000 kr/l) skedde fanns det chans om överlevnad och tillfrisknande då Floras allmäntillstånd ändå var relativt bra provsvaren till trots.

Nu står vi här utan vår högt älskade familjemedlem men med två fakturor på tillsammans 94 000 sek efter ersättning från försäkringsbolaget och andra bidrag. Ett oerhört hårt slag!

Evidensia vet också att ta betalt men det fanns inga andra alternativ.

Varför fortsatte vi försöka? Ja för att så länge det fanns liv så fanns det hopp och vi antog självklart att försäkringsbolaget skulle ta sin del.

Despite all our efforts, Flora had to leave us for the evergreen meadows of Trapalanda.

The fundraising will continue as the fight for her life became an expensive story. Our battle is not over. Now we are facing an insurance company that only reimburse 30% of the total bill instead of the expected 80 %. The loss of Flora weigh our minds and we do not believe we will win the battle against the insurance company.

Florenca, (barn name Flora) was an amazing individual. A kind soul with a big heart and a lot of spirit. Five years ago she was one of few that survived a barn fire. We are greatful for the bonus years we got !

She was a big part of our family. Playing many important parts; the safe one with the children, the eager one together with Ulrica in Bohus Elfsborg's Caroliners cavalry, the one who chose her people and showed them all her love and even during her time at Husaby Vet clinic she got the staff to do that little extra.

Her illness came totally out of the blue. In two hours, she went from being her livid spirited self to critically ill.

Intensive care at Husaby Equine Hospital in isolation for over a week showed everyone what a fighter she was. Her will to live and courage through it all was outstanding. The diagnosis is still unclear, maybe some kind of poisoning that developed into an intestinal infection and inflammation with sepsis. When the situation was critical and the discussion of plasma treatment (SEK 14,000/l) took place, there was a chance of survival and recovery as Flora's general condition was still relatively good despite the blood work results. This is why we kept our hope up!

The aftermath, without our beloved family member but with two big invoices (SEK 94,000) AFTER reimbursment from the insurance and other contributions is devastating. Evidensia (the company that owns Equine Hospital clinic) also knows how to charge but there were no other options.

Why did we keep trying? Because as long as there was life, there was hope, and we assumed that the insurance company would do what they are supposed to.
