Floras London Marathon journey. Cambridge Half - 9 Mar 2025
In August 2020, my mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer. The only symptoms were abdominal pains after meals. Suddenly life was changed completely to chemotherapy sessions at Addenbrookes Hospital, interspersed with emergency admissions.
Multiple cycles of chemotherapy followed, as well as a 5-hour emergency operation when the tumour blocked the bowel, before, almost a year later, we got the fantastic news that the cancer had gone.
Through most of the journey our family has felt quite helpless - relying on the wonderful care of the Cancer experts at Addenbrookes, as well as my mum’s endless courage and resilience. But now this Half Marathon for Macmillan is giving me the opportunity to contribute something positive in the battle against cancer, which continues to change the lives of far too many!
Any contribution, however small, will help the Macmillan team to support the many people suffering from this terrible disease.
Thank you for your friendship and support: - I hope this will help me over the Cambridge Half Marathon and all the weeks of training in the lead up to the BIG London Marathon...come rain or shine.
Thank you.
