Meet Flora, our beautiful 6-month-old black Labrador!
On Thursday the 19th of May our family was rocked by a single phone call from our vets. The lumps on her gums that we (vets included) thought were inflammations or possibly a viral infection turned out to be Papillary Squamous Cell Carcinoma. A form of cancer which will generally affect young dogs but our vets had never seen before.
This has left us facing the prospect of Flora requiring a surgery that our insurance will only cover £1000 of, meaning we will need to find the other £6000. With this surgery, a mandibulectomy (partial removal of her lower jaw), the chances are Flora will live a full and happy life and our family won’t need to say goodbye any earlier than when we were supposed to.
There are no words that can describe the impact that this gorgeous girl has had on our family. She has completed it. Our 7-year-old child has grown so much in confidence with her around him, previously shy he will now talk about Flora to anyone that will listen, the last thing we want is for him to miss out on the years they deserve to spend with each other growing up.
We’re not usually ones to ask for help but this has left us with no choice. We know times are tough for everyone with the cost of living rising, but if you could donate any money to the cause this would be greatly appreciated. Even if you can't donate we would greatly appreciate you taking the time to share this with your friends and family.
We will continue to post updates of her throughout the course of treatment and will never forget the generosity you show.
