My twin sister Flora, someone who brings so much light, love, and positivity to everyone around her, was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative breast cancer on November 12th. This is the most aggressive form of breast cancer, and it has already spread to her lymph node. Hearing this news has turned our family’s world upside down.

She completed her port surgery on December 1st, and will begin chemotherapy shortly after. In just a few weeks, she has been to more appointments than we can even count: diagnostic imaging, consultations, lab work, treatment planning, countless doctor visits, and so much more. Most people don’t realize how many expenses come with a diagnosis like this, even with insurance.

Anyone who knows Flora knows that she always puts others first. She lifts people up without ever expecting anything in return and has always been the one supporting others. But when it comes to her own needs, she’d never ask for help. Flora is strong, humble, and would rather carry this burden alone than inconvenience anyone. As her twin sister, I can’t stand by and watch her face this without the support she so deeply deserves.

Lightening even a small part of this burden will allow Flora to focus fully on healing as she begins the fight of her life.
