Help a Sumas Family Rebuild After Devastating Flood Loss
Our family never imagined we would be here again.
We are a family of four in Sumas, Washington, displaced by catastrophic flooding—once again. We survived the historic floods of 2021, rebuilt what we could, and tried to move forward. Now, the water has returned, and with it, devastating loss.
This time, we lost nearly everything.
While our insurance covers the dwelling structure, it does not cover personal belongings. The flood destroyed furniture, clothing, beds, appliances, household items, and irreplaceable personal possessions. We are left with little more than what we could carry out.
Our family includes: A teenager, and an adult child with disabilities, whose care requires stability, routine, and specific accommodations
Being displaced again has shaken us to our core. The emotional toll is heavy, especially on our children. We are exhausted, grieving, and trying to stay strong while navigating temporary housing, cleanup, repairs, and the overwhelming reality of starting over—again.
We are asking for help with:
Replacing essential belongings (clothing, beds, furniture, household items).
Flood cleanup and repairs not covered by insurance.
Temporary housing and basic living expenses while displaced.
Accessibility and stability needs for our disabled adult child.
Dehumidifiers, heaters, fans.
This is incredibly hard to ask. We are proud, hardworking people, and we never expected to face this twice in one lifetime. But right now, we are devastated, lost, and in need of community support.
If you are able to donate, share, or keep our family in your thoughts, it means more than we can express. Every contribution—no matter the size—helps us take one step toward stability and home again.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our Sumas community and our family during this unimaginable time.
