Hi, I’m Milan, and I never thought I’d be asking for something like this.
Recently, while my wife and I were away, our trusted house sitter, a long time friend of ours, had a sudden medical emergency and lost consciousness while filling the upstairs bathtub. The tub overflowed for hours before anyone knew. When he returned to consciousness, he called us to come home, ASAP.
By the time we returned, the damage was overwhelming:
- The garage ceiling had collapsed
- Two HVAC ducts and several fixtures were destroyed and filled with water
- Electrical, flooring, and insulation damage made parts of the home unsafe to use for us, our 11-year-old son, and our two pets
We’re doing everything we can to manage the situation, but we’re facing two big challenges at once.
Our friend doesn’t have health insurance, and now faces a huge medical bill after being rushed to the ER, undergoing tests, receiving treatment, and scheduling follow-up care.
On top of that, they’ve been between jobs for months and have been actively searching for work, but haven’t been able to land anything yet. This medical emergency couldn’t have come at a worse time for them, emotionally or financially.
And while he does have some people in his life who care about him, he doesn’t currently have anyone in a position to provide hands-on support. In this moment, we’re doing our best to step into that gap, doing what we can to help him recover physically, emotionally, and financially. Because we know what it's like to face a crisis with little to no support.
They were just trying to help us out, but now they’re dealing with an avalanche of expenses they didn’t see coming. We want to do right by them while also trying to recover from the damage to our home.
Our $10,000 Goal Includes:
- $5,000–$8,000: Our friend’s emergency room visit, CT scan, diagnostics, IV treatment, medication, and follow-up appointments with a specialist
- $4,170: Insurance deductible for repairs (ceiling, ductwork, electrical, and water remediation)
If there are remaining funds, it will go to our friend for further medical treatment.
How You Can Help:
Even a few dollars makes a real difference. A share means just as much. If you’ve ever had your life flipped upside down by an emergency (medical or structural), you know how it feels to be trying to stay strong and afloat at the same time.
We’re grateful for anything you can give, and for anyone who takes a moment to help us move forward.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
