Ellicott City, MD Flood Victim

Hello. My name is Robert Long, and I am one of the victims of the Ellicott City, MD 2018 flood.
I'm a graphic designer. The company I worked for closed in 2015, and I have been working in a warehouse since then at minimum wage.
Sunday evening we had tremendous rains that caused a flash flood, destroying the town of Ellicott City. I live in an old house in the outskirts of that town, and the house was built in the 1700s over a creek. The creek flooded, causing two feet of water and mud to push up through the floor boards of the basement. I only rent a room in this house, so most of my worldly possessions were kept in the basement.
I've lost about 80% of everything I've ever owned. My computer, my furniture, my library, my clothes, my bike - not to mention precious letters, awards and momento's from my life.
Renters insurance does not even begin to cover these type of losses, and I certainly did not have flood insurance. Neither does the owner of the house.
This whole experience has been a nightmare for me (not to mention those in the town even less fortunate) and I'm trying to put this past me and rebuild myself and my life as quickly as possible. Sure, some may say it's only "objects and things," but to see most of your past wiped out by water, mud and mold in a flash is both heart-breaking and soul crushing.
I could ask for the world, but I'm trying to be conservative and ask only for $6,000. This gives me a ground floor chance to start replacing those things in my life that can be replaced. Not everything can be - I know - but it will at least give me some hope.
The funds and donations raised will go towards the basics. Those being replacing ruined items - including my furniture, my clothes, my appliances, my computer, my graphic design technical library, my bike, and the supplies and tools vital to my chosen trade. These are the tangible items that I want - need - to replace.
This is my first time trying this sort of thing. I don't know if I will have any success with it. If you can help out, I humbly thank you.
