Flood Took Liz’s Business—Let’s Help Her Start Again

Hi im Amy Currie and Im fundraising for Liz Shea who is a dear family friend and a local business owner from Kempsey NSW who has lost her entire business from the recent Mid North Coast flood. Due to structural damage Liz may not be able to reopen.

The Mid North Coast floods have caused so much devastation and affected many homes and businesses.

Liz has owned The Halfway Shop for 20 years and has experienced many flood warnings, however, the price of flood insurance - as most know in our area is not affordable for a small family owned business.

The flood water reached 1.6m high inside the Halfway Shop and was inaccessible for 3 days. The flood caused damage to 90% of Liz’s assets leaving her with very little to restart.

If you are a Kempsey local or a visitor who has stopped in you would know that this little takeaway shop is iconic for netball or cricket lolly and hot chip runs, the best fish cocktails in town & burgers that you will always want more of. To lose this business is heart breaking for our community but it may be the reality and a very grim one for Liz. She has poured her heart into the small business, working 7 days a week for years and only ever closing for a couple of days over Easter and Christmas.
