Flood Relief : Villages of Karnataka & Maharashtra
Donation protected
About Us :
I, Sham Marol resident of NJ, USA working in NY have setup this fund raiser along with other below friends to help people in rural areas(villages) that are affected by unexpected floods. Someone had to take the initiative, so we are doing it.
1. Shiva Tonshal (Australia)
2. Prakash Teli (USA)
3. Girish Jambagi (USA)
4. Vitthal Mallad (USA)
Intent of Fund Raiser :
As of Aug 14 2019 ,the number of deaths from floods in Karnataka have reached 54 and 15 are missing, the government said on Tuesday. Nearly 7 lakh people have been evacuated and 4 lakh have been moved to shelters across the state. More than 55,000 houses in the state have been damaged. And over four lakh people have been moved to safety from the flood-hit parts of Maharashtra, including 3.78 lakh from the worst-hit Kolhapur and Sangli districts .
Victims have lost their house/property and have taken shelter in relief camps setup by government and local volunteers. The situation appears to be deteriorating day-by-day, which is evident based on the inputs from local victims. Although government agencies , army, navy , air force , disaster recovery teams are working in search, rescue and relief operations, support from public will be of immense help to the victims. Given the intensity of disaster, as much as help is required to assist victims.

Any kind of help will help rural people in distress ! Either donate time or money. Contributions made will be forwarded towards local relief camps to buy food, medicines, water and clothes.
Frequent updates will be made here .
How Funds will be used :
People in distress especially those in rural areas/villages need help with food , shelter, clothing and medical care. Given the distance barrier, collecting relief materials and distributing from foreign countries is not a viable option . So, we are planning to distribute the funds collected to below local trustworthy volunteer teams in India who are working on ground to locate the victims, rescue, provide food, water, medicines, clothing, temporary shelters, general utilities, sanitary materials, etc . No direct CASH distributions will be made to the victims, instead relief materials will be bought and used towards temporary shelters. We are very well antiquated with these volunteers, who are travelling length and breadth of the affected regions on a daily basis. The on-ground team has involved in these activities from past 10 days and planning to continue the efforts till normalcy is restored. Based on collection, the funds will be distributed to Indian INR bank accounts of below on-ground volunteer team`s point of contacts and will be adding more to this list (will be updating soon). Will make sure that it wont be misused .
On ground volunteers (Will be adding more to the list) :
Below belong to different volunteer teams spread across different places and are actively involved in relief work in rural area from past 10 days that are collecting relief materials from local donors. Their activities involve collecting/buying relief materials, packaging, locating relief camps, transportation of materials/victims , distribution of materials.
