Flood Relief: Help Susan & Rick Rebuild & Recover
Donation protected
As you know, hundreds of Nebraska residents have suffered from the devastating floods that have touched a good part of our state. And like many others, it's personal to our family. My sister and Rick lost their home, many of their belongings and some of their beloved animals. Their home was located on Vencil's Island, between the Platte and Elkhorn Rivers, and took a direct hit when the flood waters came crashing through. They had very little warning and even less time to evacuate.
They have just recently been able to get out to their place to begin assessing the damage. Even though their home took on nearly 4' of water, they are determined to clean up and rebuild. But as expected, they will need a lot of help. The location of their home did not allow them to carry flood insurance, only liability.
It's uncertain what it will take financially for them to rebuild, replace and recover. Besides monetary help, they'll need to replace a good part of the contents of their home. They know at the very least they'll need furniture - living room, kitchen, bedroom; and major appliances - stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer. The items in their upper cabinets and closets are able to be washed and salvaged. Other items like baking dishes, pans and casseroles are not usable. If anyone has any of these items, that are in good shape, they have a place to store them until they're able to get moved back in. You can contact me via private message and I can put you in touch with my sister.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering this special request - every little bit helps! I want nothing more than to see my sister happy again in her "happy place".
