Over Memorial Day weekend, the Arkansas River rose to historic levels causing catastrophic flooding in our town of Fort Smith. Despite all of the Hindley’s efforts to protect their home from the flood waters, their home was quickly surrounded by the Arkansas River and eventually had standing water of up to 3 feet inside their home which remained there for days.
The Hindley home is located in a 500 year flood plain which means that the chances of their home ever flooding were so remote that they did not obtain flood insurance. The water has now receded, and the damages are being assessed. Without flood insurance, all of the repairs will have to come out of their own pockets. Most people are never in a good position to absorb a disaster of this magnitude. They have an expensive road ahead of them with so many unknowns. With so much on their plate already, I wanted to try to help to take away some of their stress. By donating here, they will be able to take care of their needs as they arise.
Despite everything, I do believe that God will find a way to use this for His good.
”All around, hope is springing up from this old ground.
Out of chaos, life is being found in you.
You make beautiful things,
You make beautiful things out of the dust.
You make beautiful things,
You make beautiful things out of us.” (Lyrics)
He is giving us the opportunity to let our faith, generosity, and human kindness shine bright by helping a family who wouldn’t give a second thought to giving to someone else who was experiencing similar unexpected loss and heartbreak. Please join me in praying for and loving on a family who loves on everyone else so well❤️
