Assalamu Alaykum, brothers and sisters, we hope this message finds you in the best of health and Iman. We are writing to you today with a heavy heart as we recently learned about the devastating impact of a flash flood on the community of Taalabuur in Somaliland during the month of Ramadan. This flood caused immense damage, resulting in the loss of life, homes, and livelihoods of the people of Taalabuur.
The facts of the impact are staggering:
- 2000 animals have died, causing the depletion of livestock businesses.
- Shops that were prepared for Ramadan were destroyed, leaving families with nothing.
- A 17-year-old boy who was paralysed and has now died, and his mother is unwell.
- Over 6000 people are estimated to be displaced, with many sleeping outside in dry areas.
- The community is without food or cafes, and many are struggling to make ends meet.
- The impact of climate crisis is affecting this community, and without our support, they will continue to suffer.
We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to support the people of Taalabuur during their time of need. Your donations will help provide essential aid, including food, shelter, and medical care, to those whom the flood has displaced. Every penny counts and will significantly impact those affected by this tragedy.
The climate crisis is affecting communities worldwide, and we must take action to support those most vulnerable. The people of Taalabuur urgently need our help, and I ask you to join us in supporting them during this difficult time. Together, we can make a difference and provide much-needed relief to those suffering.
We will post regular updates on our campaign's progress, and we welcome any questions you may have. Please donate what you can, and share this campaign with your family and friends. Your support means everything to the people of Taalabuur, and we thank you for your generosity and compassion.
