My name is Jeremy Blackburn and I am opening this campaign to help my parents, Betty and Scott Quinn, who are victims of the recent flooding in Franklin County, Kentucky. While the full extent of the damage has yet to be determined, initial photographs from the site appear to show a complete loss of their home and all of their belongings. This includes clothing, furniture, beds, electronics, and more. Additionally, my parents are the caretakers to my six-year-old nephew and this loss includes all of his clothing, school supplies, toys, etc.
My parents are both retired, and while they carry renter's insurance, it does not cover flood damage. We will be applying for all available federal, state, local, and non-profit assistance in the coming days and weeks.
My parents are good people who care about others. As an example; about 18 years ago, my mother won $10,000 on a lottery ticket. If you know my family, then you know that was a great deal of money to us. After taking care of a few personal expenses, she decided to spend the rest of it buying Christmas presents for other low-income families. I am certain there will be people who will share a story about how my mom has helped them out over the years and I encourage you to do so.
This time around they need our help... anything that can be spared to help them get back on their feet would be greatly appreciated.
