Flood Relief for Journeys Lutheran School

On August 9th, Journeys Lutheran School, a school who serves special needs students in grades 3 through 12 in Hales Corners, Wisconsin, suffered an unexpected and devastating flood that has left a lasting impact on our students, staff, and community. In just a matter of hours, water rushed through our school, damaging classrooms, the gym, and countless supplies and materials that our teachers and students rely on every day.

The scale of the damage is staggering — initial estimates place the total loss at over one million dollars. From flooring and furniture to essential technology and teaching materials, a lot of aspects of the school have been affected.

The most heartbreaking part is knowing that so many of the items we lost were not just “things” — they were tools of learning, items of comfort, and resources that made our school feel like home.

Journeys Lutheran School is more than just a building. We are a family — a place where students of all abilities are seen, valued, and given the support they need to grow not only academically, but as people. Our mission is to teach, inspire, and nurture every single student, and this flood has not taken away our commitment — but it has made our journey forward more difficult.

We are humbly asking for your help. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward replacing the materials, supplies, and resources that were destroyed, so we can continue giving our students the education and environment they deserve.

This school year, our theme is “Victory in Jesus.” We believe with all our hearts that Jesus has already won the ultimate victory for us through His death and resurrection. While this flood feels like a heavy setback, we stand on the promise that He will also give us victory in this challenge. Our faith tells us that what the enemy intends for harm, God can use for good. We trust that He will provide, restore, and strengthen our school community, allowing us to come back even stronger—together.
